Toddler in a Toddler bed

Tonight is Mr 23 month old William's first night in his toddler bed. He went to bed at 8:15pm and is currently still awake. I have had to return him to his bed 4 times so far, but with no screaming or crying which is a massive deal as my william screams and cries over EVERYTHING.

He is currently laying in bed watching a dvd on the portable dvd player but its the only way i can sort of get him to stay, we will work on one thing at a time, at the moment its getting him to settle himself in his new bed, then we will get rid of the movie.

School holidays - start of week 2

So week 2 of school holidays are here. And we are all still sick. Blah.

We thought this would happen we took the chance and went out to a party Saturday night. A family friend's 50th. It was a good night. I was cowboy/girl theme. So everyone had to dress up. Which was fun and funny lol.

But the result of taking me and the little 2 out who were still a little sick is that not we are very sick again, but that was the chance we took.

So today will again be spent at home recovering, washing clothes, doing dishes and doing the baking i had planned for last week that i still haven't managed to get to yet. I also need to put the toddler bed together for William as he is too old for the cot now.

Anyway something different, I have got heaps and heaps of hair accessory making supplies and i am going to make a heap of them and do a market stall, i am also thinking bout selling them online. Meredith loves mummy's hair clips lol. And everyone liked the headband that she wore Saturday night that i made.

School holidays - end of week 1

So today is friday we are one week into the school holidays and we have so far done nothing all holidays as we have all been sick with colds and feeling awful.

But we have had some progress on the development fron of the baby.

He can now commando crawl, it takes him a while and he gets exhusted very fast but he can crawl yay. My little 8  1/2 month old is growing up.

As for Mr 23 months i cant believe he will be 2 next month and is still not talking. Mum, dad and bub is just not enough for a nearly 2 year old if you ask me, but none of the health professionals are concerned they have said that a lot of kids this age dont say much, so i guess i should stop stressing about it. I think by spring we will be able to start toilet training him which will be very good, cause he has a massive tantrum everytime i change his bum.

On wednesday i picked up my tupperware order, wasnt a big order but cant wait to use it all the same. I got a muesili bar maker and some bar keepers. It came with a recipe book with some really great recipes in it. Fun fun fun.

i am also going to make some biscuits today from an awesome new recipe i came across. I got it from a website called the Stay At Home Mum, http://www.stayathomemum.net.au/.

Here is the recipe:

120 cookies for $4!

Make over 120 cookies for just $4.00! This fantastic basic cookie recipe is terrific value, makes loads and has lots of room for variations:

500g margarine
1 tin condensed milk
1 cup sugar
5 cups self-raising flour

Cream sugar and margarine. Add condensed milk and flour. Roll into teaspoon sized balls and press down with a fork. Place on greased trays and bake in moderate oven until golden brown (approximately 10-15 minutes).

Before baking I divide the mixture into five and add the following ingredients for different flavoured cookies:
1.Chocolate chips and glace cherries (chopped)
2.Cornflakes and sultanas
3.Hundreds and Thousands
4.Jam drops
5.Milo and coconut

You could add any number of other things like Rice Bubbles, Smarties, nuts, cinnamon and other spices and so on. The raw mixture can be frozen in balls, just thaw slightly before baking.

From this one batch we made 123 cookies and by my calculations using the cheapest possible ingredients the whole batch cost just over $4.00 to make!

I will post some pics later with a review.

Almost school holidays

This is the last week of term 2 here in melbourne.

So soon i will have 4 kids home everyday with me. Things will be loud, crazy, chaotic and mad. I have to get this house sorted and tidy before school holidays start so i have only a few days to. But it will also be fun with crafts, games, sheet cubby houses, cooking, laughs and loads of giggles. Might even let miss 8 have a friend or 2 over for a sleep over.

This saturday night is my sisters 21st birthday party she is having a Psyhcobilly theme party. I have no idea what the hell i am going to wear but thats the fun of a dress up party right. And then the following weekend is a family friends 50th and its a country theme so that one will be easier cause its jeans and flannie shirt lol.

The little kids are being pains at the moment they just dont want to be left alone for more then 5 mins at a time which is not at all helpful to me when i am trying to get things done.

I spent yesterday feeling very sick so that was no fun. I was headachy and dizzy and had a bit of a temp. Don't know what was wrong but today i am feeling better.

Ms 8's school has been testing her to see just where she actually is academically. They have discovered that she is reading at a Year 8 level, she is not understanding everything that she reads but she can read the words and the sentence structures that are appropriate for and expected of year 8 students. And she is in grade 2.

Mr 6 is plodding along as a prep kid just great. No issues for him at all. He is passing the other kids in a few different areas and really enjoys getting outside and playing baskteball and football with the boys.

Mr 22 months is becoming more and more like a 2 year old everyday. He is testing everything to see what he can do and what he can get away with. He does not like boundries.

And finally Mr 8 months, tooth number 7 and 8 are coming through, he can sit for long periods at a time, he is starting to crawl backwards and he loves being in the jolly jumper.

Been a while

So haven't blogged in a while, but nothing really has been happening.

Update on the kids, youngest to oldest:

Jaimie: can sit for 10+ mins at a time, has worked he can roll over and over and over to get around the room, is making me discover the technique known as babyled weaning and I think he may not be far of crawling. Not bad for 7 months old.

William: has gone 2 days without a full blown tantrum, has started saying dummy bringing up to 5 words (for nearly 2 year old he really does not want to talk), he has started sitting on his potty like it's a chair so I think by this summer he might be ready for toilet training.

Benson is going very well at school, he is taking to reading like a pro and is already 2 levels ahead of the other kids, his 2 front bottom teeth are wobbly so he is hanging out for them to fall out, we are planning is birthday party at the moment he will be turning 6 on June 23rd.

Meredith-lee is growing up to fast, at the age of 8 she is already acting like more of a teen then a kid she has an attitude all the time lol, she is still excelling at school and they want to do testing on her to see exactly where she is at.

So all the kids are doing well.
Until my next post take care.

What a day

To say that today has been easy or pleasant would be a total and utter lie. It has been one major headache after stuff up all damn day long. The sort of day that just leaves you feeling mentally, emotionally and physically drained, staring at the clock while your mind screams is it time for bed.

But no there are still a few more hours to go.

At least one thing it's almost……… actually I don't evenknow how to finish that I don't know what I am looking forward to. Certainly not the weekend not sure that it is going to be any better then today or what I anticipate tomorrow is going to be like.

No I am not going to go into the details of why today has been lousy cause some things are just to private even for a blog. Let's just say though when you think everything is perfect don't go feeling cocky cause before you know it Gould all come crashing down around you.

Anyway I will leave this note at that k might be back later to do something a little more positive, doubt it though.

Bye for now xoxo
